Presidents’ message

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

We are glad to announce the 18th Congress of the European Chapter of the International Union of Angiology (IUA) jointly organized with the XIX Meeting of the Mediterranean League of Angiology and Vascular Surgery (MLAVS), to be held in Palermo from October 24th to 27th, 2009.
This first announcement contains a very large list of topics useful for the preparation of scientific contributions from people wishing to participate, so enriching the scientific programme of the Congress with free papers for oral communications and poster sessions. Special sessions will be devoted to the competition for IUA and IASACO prizes and other industry-supported Young Investigators prizes.
The Congress will have a four-day core structure. The programme will consist of plenary sessions every day, multidisciplinary on major advances in the field of angiology, parallel sessions, state-of-the-art lectures, keynote lectures, symposia, oral communications and poster sessions.
Joint sessions organized with European and international Societies in the field of angiology, vascular and cardiovascular diseases and industry-sponsored symposia will also be part of the scientific programme.
We hope to receive soon suggestions for Symposia, Debates, Workshops, How-to Sessions, Pro and Contra Sessions and Lectures from distinguished speakers of the International Union of Angiology and of the Mediterranean League of Angiology and Vascular Surgery as well as from world-wide scientists actively involved in practical angiology, in clinical and experimental research in hospitals and University hospitals.
The Congress is aiming to present and debate the most recent experiences and researches in the field of vascular pathology between angiologists, cardiologists, diabetologists, specialists in internal medicine and geriatrics, haematologists, radiologists, vascular surgeons as well as young post-graduating doctors in these disciplines and nurses.
The participation of the Industry will be very important for the success of the Meeting: we hope for an active role of many Companies in the IUA Eurochap & MLAVS Congress, by sponsoring a symposium, reserving an exhibition space, or sending a delegation.
The Congress will be accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education - European Board of Vascular Surgery (EACCME-UEMS) and by the Italian CME.
We hope that people coming from other countries as well as from other regions of Italy can find attractive and interesting the history and the monuments of Palermo, a mosaic of art and culture.
